He previously served as a portfolio manager, equity analyst and derivatives strategist at Putnam Investments. Maris served as guest lecturer at several universities including the MIT Sloan School of Management, Wake Forest University and the University of Denver. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver. Maris received his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Swarthmore College. He joined Janus in July 1996 as a research analyst focusing on U.S. media, broadcasting, financial and technology companies, and became a portfolio manager in June 2000. From June 2000 to January 2008, Mr. Sachs served as portfolio manager of Janus Orion Fund and all related portfolios. Additionally, from February 2005 to February 2006, he served as Portfolio Manager of Janus Triton Fund and all related portfolios. Prior to joining Janus, Mr. Sachs was a strategy consultant with Bain & Company and prior to that worked as a securities attorney advising public and private companies on capital markets and general corporate matters. He received his bachelor of arts degree in economics from Princeton University, where he graduated cum laude, and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan.
